Why tape and not more disk?
For content you keep for years but rarely touch, tape costs less per terabyte, uses almost no power when idle and can be kept off-line.
Can we still find things once they are on tape?
Yes. The catalogue and proxies stay online; only the full-resolution media is on tape.
